What is TERAKOYA GAMP?
— A Third Learning Space, Open to the World and Nature —
TERAKOYA GAMP is a place where children and young people nurture the strength to live at their own pace,
through hands-on experiences centered on agriculture and meaningful connections with others.
Regardless of whether someone attends school—or their age or background—
TERAKOYA GAMP is run as a welcoming tamari-ba (a place to belong) for anyone who feels
“life is hard right now” or “this environment doesn’t suit me,”
offering a safe space where each person can drop by with peace of mind.
The setting for our activities is GAMP Village, where a farm, traditional farmhouses, a construction workshop, and a dining space come together.
Through farm work, caring for animals, and working in nature,
participants gradually develop the ability to work, think, and make choices—
in other words, the strength to live—within everyday life.
There is no registration system; participation follows a “come when you want” style.
What you do is up to you.
TERAKOYA GAMP is a place of learning that values self-determination while fostering the ability to connect with society.
Concept
— Three Core Principles of TERAKOYA GAMP —
So that children can freely rediscover their true selves
and take their first steps toward the wider world—
TERAKOYA GAMP creates a learning environment centered on three core pillars:
nature, the world, and individuality.
Learning with Nature
Learning with Nature
The changing seasons, the feel of soil and wind, the warmth of sunlight—
it is in nature that children rediscover their natural curiosity and sensitivity.
By valuing learning outdoors and insights gained through experience,
we cultivate a place of learning where both mind and body can relax and open up.
Learning Open to the World
Global Connections
Children learn through interaction with international guests, exposure to global cultures, and natural English communication.
It is an environment where the world feels not distant, but close and familiar.
Here, children grow not only in language skills but also in the ability to appreciate diverse values.
Honoring Each Child’s Natural Pace
Individual Pace & Identity
Rather than focusing on “can or can’t,”
we value dialog-based learning that asks, “How do you feel?” and “What do you want to do?”
By staying closely attuned to each individual’s personality, sensitivity, and unique traits,
we create an environment where everyone can grow safely and confidently at their own pace.
Program Overview
— Children’s Interests Become Learning —
— A Variety of Programs That Encourage Freedom and Exploration —
At TERAKOYA GAMP, we offer a flexible curriculum that allows each child to learn at their own pace,
regardless of age or background.
Our programs span languages, art, nature-based experiences, international exchange, and community learning—
designed to turn each child’s “I want to try this” into meaningful learning.
While valuing “living learning” that cannot be gained at a desk alone,
we create an environment where children can develop the strength to move toward their own future.
Academic Support & Foundational Learning
We offer small-group and individualized learning tailored to each child’s pace.
From reviewing school subjects to exploring personal interests through inquiry-based learning, students can engage deeply in a safe and supportive environment.
Nature Experiences & Field Learning
In the rice fields, gardens, ocean, and mountains surrounding GAMP, nature becomes the classroom.
Through planting, harvesting, and outdoor play, children learn with all five senses and experience the cycles of life firsthand.
International Exchange & Language Time
Children interact with international guests and exchange students, experiencing multilingual communication with English at the center.
They engage with “living language,” gaining a natural sense of global connection beyond textbooks.
Art, Expression & Creative Projects
Drawing, crafting, music, dance—children express themselves in many forms.
Their interests and “I want to try this!” moments become the starting point for small, meaningful projects.
Program options and attendance styles vary depending on age and enrollment status.
We will propose the best plan based on your child’s needs.
Please feel free to consult with us anytime.
Daily Flow & Weekly Schedule
— A Day at GAMP, Spent at Your Own Pace —
A day at TERAKOYA GAMP unfolds in a gentle rhythm where
“focused learning time” and “relaxed time” naturally blend together.
The day begins with morning greetings and sharing time, followed by learning support, activities in nature,
time for expression, and interaction with international guests—
all spent flexibly according to the day’s participants and each person’s physical condition.
In our weekly schedule, we loosely set themes such as languages, nature-based experiences, art, and project-based learning,
aiming to create a place where “whenever you come, there is always learning and a place that suits you.”
Let’s start by talking together about how to attend in a way that best fits your child’s current situation.
- 9:00〜
Arrive at Your Own Pace & Check Today’s Mood
There’s no need to rush or force a start.
We’ll take time together to sort out, “What would you like to do today?”
- 10:00〜
Farming, Animals & Outdoor Activities
and each child can choose what they would like to do.
- 12:00〜
Lunch Break & Rest
Children chat on the engawa, read books, or simply spend the time in their own way—whatever feels right for them.
- 13:00〜
Handcraft, Learning & Time to Reset
even time spent “doing nothing” is considered an important part of learning.
- 15:00〜
Reflection & Departure
When you come back next time is entirely up to you.
*Please note that the above schedule is only an example.
We flexibly adjust times and activities based on each child’s condition, attendance, and seasonal events.*

A Message from TADA, Chief of GAMP Village
— A Place Where You Can Shine Just as You Are —
We are committed to building a space where children and adults alike can move through life in their own rhythm—under the motto, “Go At My Pace.”
Watching the children who come to GAMP reminds me, again and again, that it’s okay for people to walk at their own pace.
You don’t have to compare yourself to anyone.
It’s okay if the words don’t come out perfectly.
What feels hard today may become possible tomorrow.
This is a place that values such “gentle yet steady growth.”
With the breeze from the nearby sea, the earthy scent of the fields, and the quiet of old farmhouses,
as hearts slowly unwind in nature, children begin to rediscover their own voices, and their expressions gradually change.
We believe that our role as adults is not only to teach,
but also to walk alongside children so they can learn to trust their own abilities.
Please feel safe to move at your own pace.
This is a second “home”—a place that will never deny who you are.
— TADA, Chief of GAMP Village
Scenes of Learning
— Moments of Meeting Nature, Friends, and Yourself —
Learning at TERAKOYA GAMP does not end inside a classroom.
Reading a book on tatami mats in a traditional farmhouse, conversations with international guests, small discoveries in the fields,
and evenings spent talking together around a bonfire—.
Here, there is a landscape where “learning” and “living” are gently connected.
Children nurture the seeds of their interests at their own pace,
sometimes challenging themselves, sometimes taking a break,
as they discover a form of learning that is uniquely their own.
It is a calm and enriching learning landscape,
where nature gently feels as though it is encouraging each step forward,
unfolding quietly within everyday life.
Reading Time on the Tatami
Quiet moments spent lying on tatami in an old farmhouse, reading books or manga.
A time to relax and sink into your own world.
Conversations with International Guests
Around the traditional hearth, children practice conversations using English and gestures.
It’s a time when expressions and feelings connect more deeply than words alone.
Small Discoveries in the Garden
Children feel the soil, insects, flowers, and newly sprouted vegetables—experiencing the changing seasons with all their senses and discovering the cycles of life.
Art & Craft Time
Children can draw, paint, and create using paper or small pieces of wood. It’s perfectly fine if things don’t turn out “perfect”—what matters is expressing their curiosity and bringing their ideas to life.
Relaxed Tea Time on the Engawa
While feeling the ocean breeze, children enjoy tea, conversation, and simply relaxing. Even quiet, unstructured moments are considered a meaningful form of learning here.
Evening Conversations Around the Campfire
As we sit around the fire, children quietly share moments from their day or thoughts that simply come to mind.
The warmth of the flames helps their true feelings naturally unfold.
